After BlackBerry now Gmail and Skype under scanner in India

Users of BlackBerry must be relieved now as Indian government has given them a time frame of 2 months to avoid a permanent ban on their service.

The attention of Indian Government has now turned towards Google and Skype as both have powerful encryption services so under the scanner.

According to the official source
“The notices to these entities will be issued beginning Tuesday and all of them will be asked to comply with the directive or else they will have to close down their networks,” A senior government official told the PTI.

Google and Skype have not yet responded whereas BlackBerry has agreed to set up a server in India so that it can be monitored by the government.

Ban on Gmail and Skype will upset a lot of Internet users.

    This is a bad news for Indian internet users, specially those who use Skype a lot and those who were planning to use the calling feature of Gmail.

    Well, if they does so then the government will be boycotted as because Gmail and Skype both are very important.

    Don’t get panick yet there is enough time for a resolution between these parties i don’t believe this will ever happen however i kind of understand what the government might be thinking to do not just censorship but this could create jobs for the indian community

    Well, I’m pretty sure Blackberry will have to surrender considering India’s is one of the biggest markets in the world.

    And similarly, every company will have to obey the rules set by the government since exiting from such a big market would be losing out on huge revenue.
