1. Google Now on Tap

Google Now on Tap is one of the cool features of Android 6.0 Marshmallow. You can now launch the virtual Assistant- Google Now by holding the Home button without leaving anything which you are doing on your screen.

An example to understand how Google Now on Tap will work – If you are listening to a song, you can ask “who is the singer” by holding down the Home button and launching Google Now, which will show you the “name of the singer”.

2. New App Permissions

Currently, when you install any app from Google Play on your device you have to grant access to your camera, location, message history and more. But in Android 6.0 Marshmallow devices you can pick and choose permissions for each app.

You can change permissions of an individual app by going to the Settings Menu.

Apple has already introduced app permissions feature for individual apps in iOS.

3. Doze

Android 6.0 Marshmallow will boost your device battery life. ‘Doze’ feature monitors your phone and puts it in sleep mode when it is in idle state for specific period of time, it temporarily disables battery killing apps and few background processes.

Flex Storage feature on Marshmallow allows you to use external storage on your device such as a microSD card to use it as an onboard storage for games and apps.

5. Uninstall pre-loaded apps

The users of Huawei Nexus 6P and LG Nexus 5X will be able to uninstall pre-loaded apps on their smartphones. Currently, you cannot uninstall pre-loaded apps on device, unless you are on a rooted device.

The pre-loaded apps which can be uninstalled on newer devices running on Android 6.0 includes Google Docs,Play Books, Google+, Keep, News, Sheets, Slides, Fit and Weather.

6. Cut, Copy, Paste

With Android Marshmallow you will be able to cut, copy and paste content from a webpage easily just like iOS. Once you select a text a pop up of menu will appear with the words “cut,” “copy,” and “paste,” above your selected word.

7. USB Type C

Battery life is a major concern for smartphones. USB Type C support for Android Marshmallow devices means that your device will get charged charged three to five times faster. You can save power and also transferring of data via USB Type C will be quick. The new Nexus devices will come with USB Type C.

Google has introduced its latest mobile payment system Android Pay to Android 6.0. Android Pay is NFC based which means users can make payment via their smartphones by tapping on NFC terminal. Android Pay is compatible with phones running on Android KitKat and above.
