I started my first self hosted WordPress blog and for optimizing my blog for SEO i changed the permalinks to /%category%/%postname%/
whereas the default permalink was http://techiezlounge.com/?p=123 which is not good option regarding SEO.
Everytime someone commented on my blog post it gave Error 404 though the comment got posted. I tried it myself and got the same response.
After some googling i found that it had to with permalinks and the solution was using .htacess , which i found quite confusing .
WordPress has lots of plugins and i found that if i used Dean Lee Permalink migration plugin my problem can be solved.
I installed the plugin and activated it in my admin dashboard.
Go to settings and then to permalink migration and do the necessary changes and update the file.
My permalink now got changed and posting comment in my blog is not giving any Error 404.
Although i haven’t come across any such errors , but also will note it down whenever i get this problem.
When it comes to permalink structure use .html after the %postname%/ , as per suggested Google support

feeling glad that you have changed the permalinks structure suitable for search engines to index your blog posts better. SEO is very vital for blogs based on both WordPress or blogger to skyrocket the traffic and you are moving in the right direction shabbu. Thank for referring to the Dean Lee Permalink migration plug-in which could solve the 404 Error you have been facing.

Your solution seems to me is just another workaround. I’m facing exactly the same problem as yours in my site idolbin.com. It would be great to know why this happened after changing the permalink structure. though the same structure worked in other wordpress sites I’ve worked on.
I also changed my site to SEO friendly permalink. But at first I made a mistake when I add the permalink. I add / / 2 times. So when anyone click to my article link it says 404 error. I don’t understand for a week – what’s happening? Then I checked again permalink. At last I found the problem. Now its allright. If you don’t get any trouble, you’ll not learn this things. I am still on learning process : ))

I agree that newbie bloggers should make some mistakes. However, everyone should be careful when changing permalinks to /%category%/%postname%/ . You have to keep in mind that Seo friendly Url is very important part of blogging success.

Thank you, Techiezlounge. I just fixed my error on my sites. I just known that my problem was only my wp-comment-post.php renamed by my hosting. I think this plugin awesome! Thank you for this good information.
