David Wang known as @planetbeing has made progress in iPhone 5 untethered jailbreak. He tweeted that he has managed to get a tethered jailbreak on his iPhone 5 running on iOS 6.

Upgraded the #failbreak with a kernel exploit so tweaks actually work on iPhone 5. Almost a full tethered JB, though need dev account.

He explains that he would reserve the exploits as #failbreak so that they can help him in discovering new vulnerabilities in the future. He also says that he is willing to work with those who have iOS Developer’s Account.

planetbeing has not given any ETA for the release of iPhone 5 jailbreak on iOS 6, says that he would release the jailbreak only when unthered is ready and would not release a tethered jailbreak. He replied that there is no sense burning three vulnerabilities for a tethered Jailbreak when only one more is needed for a full Untethered Jailbreak.

Pod2G and chpwn are also working for untethered iPhone 5 jailbreak.

iPhone 5 untethered jailbreak on iOS 6 is not far away.

Last popular hacker Comex of JailbreakMe had disappointed Jailbreak community when he accepted offer of Apple by joining Internship at the company.

He has confirmed in one of his tweet that he is no longer working with Apple-

So… no point in delaying, as of last week, after about a year, I’m no longer associated with Apple.

The the exact reason for him leaving is not known. It is said that he forgot to reply to an email from the company that was an offer to continue his employment with Apple as a remote based intern. Apple takes Offer letters seriously and that when an offer is on the table you either accept it or it is quickly revoked.

Comex now plans to concentrate on this studies. It is unlikely that he will again work with Jailbreak community as per terms of employment with Apple.
