iPhone Recording Location Data – Reports

If you got iPhone or iPad then you need to beware as Apple is recording your movements! The news is shocking but is true.

iPhone records your geographic location, latitude and longitude along with a timestamp in a secret file and the file automatically gets copied to your computer when you connect your idevice with iTunes.

The file is not encrypted and it can be accessed from your idevice by anyone.

Pete Warden and Alasdair Allan have researched on how your location is tracked and have created a iPhone Tracker a web application which you download and find out yourself.

The secret file on your iPhone is however not sent back to the server of Apple.

Till now it is unknown as to why Apple wants to store location data.

O’Reilly has come up with a video which shows that there is no harm with the availability of location data.

    The fact that Apple being able to see everywhere a person, just by having access to either the phone or a computer used with that phone is a pretty big problem considering how widespread these phones are.
