iTunes U App For iPad Launched

Apple has released iTunes U App for iPad along with iBooks2, Books Author and iTunes 10.5.3 at a Media event in NYC.

For those who are unware, iTunes u enables students to download educational materials from any where in the world about a particular topic.As per Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services, “The all-new iTunes U app enables students anywhere to tap into entire courses from the world’s most prestigious universities”.

Apple has shown a demo of the app in the event “Core Concepts in Chemistry” from Duke University.Students will be able to overview the course, access class syllabus and details of teachers.The app for iPad has sections such as “Posts,” “Notes” and “Materials”.Students can avail 500,000 free lectures, videos, books and other resources on various subjects ranging from Algebra to Zoology, can sign up to various courses right from the app, can check assignments and check them off once completed, can take notes and highlight certain text in iBooks, can also modify their notes and teachers and students can be rated through the app.

To use the app you will be required to have iTunes Store account, Apple ID, iTunes 10.5.3 or above and iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch running on iOS 5 or above.It is easy to use and is available for a free download from the App Store. Universities which are included in this program are Stanford, Yale, MIT, Oxford, UC Berkeley, MoMA, the New York Public Library, and the Library of Congress.
