Apple will be holding a special Media Event on September 12 to unveil iPhone 5 at Yerba Buena Center in San Francisco. According to various reports iPhone 5 will have a large 4-inch display screen, will be thinner have support for 4G LTE, smaller dock connector, will have faster processor, Facebook integration, in-built iOS 6 and much more.
It is also confirmed that the 6th generation iPhone will be iPhone 5 and not New iPhone as rumored. It is clear from the by the 5 shadow in the press invite. See image below.
With the launch of the 6th generation iPhone it is being expected that Apple will replace iPhone 3GS with 8GB iPhone 4S. When iPhone 4S was launched last year in October 4, Apple gave iPhone 3GS free with a contract. It is very likely that Apple will be pushing iPhone 3GS to price conscious lower-end markets of smartphones.
Apple for users who have iPhone 4S and want to upgrade will offer $345 on an Apple gift card in lieu.
