5 Android Developer Options Hidden Features You Should Try

Are you aware that your Android has a “developer options” feature which has plenty of hidden advanced options? The developer options are for developers in general. By enabling the developer’s option on your Android device you can enable a lot of useful features on your device and can also speed up your Android. Developer Options Menu is hidden in Android 4.2, 4.3 and 4.4 but can be enabled using a trick.

Follow these steps to enable Developer Options Menu in Android 4.2, 4.3 and 4.4

1. Open the “Settings” menu on your Android device.

2. Go to “About Device” section.

3. Tap to open “About Device” section, scroll down to the bottom to “Build Number” option.

4. To activate “Developer Options”, tap on the “Build Number” 7 times.

1. Enable USB Debugging

Enable USB Debugging is an important feature as it allows applications to access your device when it is connected to your desktop via USB cord. With this feature enabled, you can perform advanced tricks which includes rooting of Android and installing Custom ROMs.

To enable USB Debugging:

Go to Settings >> Developer Options.
Tick on the USB Debugging checkbox.
Select OK when you get a prompt “Allow USB Debugging?”.

 

2. Set Desktop Backup Password

Take a backup of your device on your desktop and protect your backup with a password in the developer options. you can first create a password for your backup in the developer options.

The password encrypts your backups to make them secure, remember that you will not be able to access backup if you forget the password.

Go to Settings >> Developer Options.

Tap on the Desktop backup password.

Type in the current password, then type and retype the new password for a full backup.

 

3. Disable or Speed Up Animation Settings

You can either speed up animation or turn it off completely. By disabling animations your device will run at a faster speed.

If you like animations and want to make them faster, you can speed them up. You will get faster animation on your Android by choosing a lower number.

Go to Settings >> Developer Options.

Scroll down to find Window animation scale, Transition animation scale and Animator duration scale.
Adjust the scale for the animation as per your requirement.

 

4. Fake Your GPS Location

The Allow Mock Location option allows you to set fake GPS locations. To fake GPS location an app is required, to use the app at first you will have to enable Mock Location for the app to work.

Now, you can fake your GPS location to your friends.

Enable Mock Location in two steps.

Go to Settings > Developer Options.
Look for Allow Mock Location and tick on it to enable.

 

5. Show CPU Usage On Top

You can view CPU usage data by enabling the Show CPU usage option to On. You will find your current CPU Usage ob the right top side of the screen.

Head to Settings >> Developer Options.

Tick on Show CPU Usage to enable it.
