Apple released iOS 8 with new features, designs and tweaks in 2014 along with the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Iit is been confirmed by Google Analytics that Apple is testing the next generation iOS 9 on iPhones and iPads.
Apple fans are concerned about iOS 9 release date, iOS 9 features and devices supported by iOS 9. Let us go through possible release date of iOS 9 and features which we expect!
iOS 9 Release Date
Apple announced iOS 8 in June, 2014 at WWDC and was released in Q4 2014. Apple releases one major iOS update every year for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. It is expected that the Cupertino-based company will be announcing iOS 9 at WWDC (Worldwide Developer Conference) in June, 2015 and its public launch in September along with the iPhone 6S/7.
iOS 9 Supported devices
iOS 9 is expected to be compatible with the upcoming next generation iPhone (iPhone 6S/7) and upcoming new iPads along with the other devices which includes-
iPad 3, iPad 4, iPad Air, iPad Air 2
iPad mini 2, iPad mini 3
iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus
iPod touch (fifth generation)
iOS 9 Features
Night Mode
Night mode was introduced by Apple in OS X Yosemite and it is expected that iOS 9 will have night mode feature which will make reading text at night and low light areas easier.
Group FaceTime Calls and Video Messages
FaceTime allows only two persons in Group calls, it would be great if group calls can be extended up to 10 like in Skype.
It would be great if we could send video messages to our loved ones! If you are concerned that it will take much of space of your device, there can be an option of deleting or saving the message by the recipient.
Split-screen Multitasking
Split-screen Multitasking feature lets you to interact with two screens at a time. Imagine, you can entertain yourself by watching a video while working on your iPhone at a time.
Split-screen multitasking was rumored to be introduced along with iOS, hoping that the feature gets introduced in iOS 9.
Multiuser support/user accounts
Many users prefer to log into iOS using a specific user name or account while can enable them save their bookmarks, apps and media content. There should be such an Account which will prohibit others from seeing your social media Account and photos.
Ability to delete or hide Default Apps
iOS comes with many pre-installed apps which you cannot delete or hide. Wouldn’t it be great, if we could hide or delete pre-installed apps to get some space.
Battery-saving mode
Battery life has been a major concern with iOS devices. If you ask any Apple user about what they would want to see in the next generation iPhone, the answer would be a better battery life!
Apple can solve the battery life by including a battery-saving mode feature in iOS 9.
Local Siri
Siri cannot work if it is not connected with internet. Siri sends voices command back to HQ which gets decoded by Apple’s back-end servers. The feature will be very helpful if you want to send a message even if your device is not connected to internet.
Home screen widgets
This would be great if we can install widgets on the Home screen as in Android. The integration of third-party system-wide keyboards and widgets on Home Screen would be appreciated by Apple users.
