iOS 14: Features, Release Date And More

As expected, the Cupertino giant has announced iOS 14 for iPhone and iPad at the WWDC 2020 virtual developer conference.

The latest operating system comes with new features like a new home screen, interface, library, widgets, and improvements. Apple has also released beta version of iOS 14 for developers. If you are registered with Apple’s Developer’s Program you can go ahead and install beta version of iOS 14 on your compatble iPhone, iPad devices.

iOS 14 Features

1. Newly designed App library and Home screen

This update will let you remove the entire apps from the home screen and reconfigure the entire screen once again by choice. There will be a provision of the dedicated app library to make the entire apps reside therein. The app library will create big folders to keep your recently used apps along with the other categories. Furthermore, there will a provision to search the installed applications via the search box. The auto-categorization of the apps will be available in terms of technology, health, social, and several others. 

2. New Widgets

Widgets have been redesigned in iOS 14 for iPhone, iPad.The update will let you access the completely new experience with several flexibilities. For example, you will be able to drag the widgets and make them fitted inside your phone’s home screen. There will be an availability of the ‘Smart Stack’ widget letting you move through the frequently used widgets. The system will even get automated in case you make use of a similar widget several times during the day. 

3. A New Siri Interface

Siri comes with a new interface in iOS 14, it will not take full-screen anymore. Siri, when launched, will be shown just as an icon at the bottom of the screen, and it will show results at the top of your screen. You will be able to use Siri while performing other tasks.

6. Updates on Memoji

Apple will be Memojis more expressive, there will be seven numbers of Memoji under hairstyle, sixteen in the category of headwear, along with the additions in the head covering. The users can even notice much enhanced facial structure to better express ourselves using Memoji and Memoji stickers.

7. Photos

The iOS 14 update will let you caption the photographs and even search via the provided captions in the huge library of images. It will make the image identification experience better in all regards. Moreover, you can apply filters via the labels including favorites, edited, videos, and others.

8. Voice memo apps update

The update will even let you edit the audio quality while editing any particular voice note. You need to click on the music wand and the feature will let you reduce the background noise for a crystal clear recording process. There will not be a requirement of any more third-party apps installation for the purpose. The meeting recording, YouTube audio, and video recording, as well as interview recording processes, will get easier. 

9. New App: Translate

iOS 14 Release Date

iOS 14 was announced by Apple at WWDC 2020, however, no official launch date is confirmed by the company. Apple has released developer beta, it is expected that the public release of iOS 14 will come with the launch of iPhone 12 in fall.

iOS 14 Jailbreak

Apple released its first beta of iOS 14 to its developers a few days back, and Checkra1n has released a video showing iPhone X jailbroken running on iOS 14 beta.
